Verse: “Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.”
Insight: We are drawn with urgency by this verse to live a life of blessing - “for the time is near”. “Blessed” has the meaning of, “fortunate, happy, privileged, someone who receives divine favor.” Who’s up for that? We are given three activities in this scripture, that “trigger” this divine favor in our lives:
Read the Scripture out loud (i.e speak intelligently for the benefit of the listeners, including you)
Hear what is being read (i.e. understand and learn)
Keep what is written (i.e. to note; to fulfill and maintain a command)
This seems to suggest a type of “circular” rhythm to living in the blessing of divine favor: we move from listener, to learner, to leader, and then again, from listener, to leaner to leader, and so on - the unbroken cycle of blessing.
Prayer: Lord, I want to say that I am fortunate, happy and privileged to know You, and I am SO up for living in the blessing of Your divine favor! Please help me to maintain this unbroken rhythm of blessing by listening well, learning humbly, and leading with grace in my space. Thank you, Lord. Amen.
